Good On You: An Ethical Brand Finder

‘Good on you’ is all about helping you buy clothes that not only look good but you can feel good about buying.

Originally from Australia, Good on You has expanded to be a global platform that prides itself on making it easier for the consumer to shop and support brands that are using ethical business practices. As of 2019 they have rated over 2,000 brands.

Good on You front Page
You can filter based of clothing item as well as gender preference

They also launched an app where you can suggest what brands they should look into next.

Set your own preferences

As of 2019 British actress, Emma Watson has partnered up with them as their spokesperson

They take into account how the people making the clothes are impacted as well as the environment, specifically how they dispose of their waste. They also research any certifications that the brand may have as well as their public stances on issues.

Once they have compiled all of the information they give them a rating (1 to 5). Some fast fashion brands have a rating of “It’s a Start” as they have realized that they need to make changes as their customers demand change.

Good on You also has partnered up with brands that have received either a “Good” or “Great”. They will have affiliated links to brands to support them and the work that they are doing. These appear as alternatives to other brands with lower scores.

Beauty Dupes to Save You Money

Make-up can be expensive, but who says that you have to pay that to get the same result.

One of my hobbies is doing make-up. And as a broke college student I am constantly looking for products that give a similar, or even better, result as the high end stuff.

Benefit – The Porefessional v. Maybeline – Babyskin

Benefit Cosmetics- The POREfessional ($32-$54)
Maybeline – Baby Skin ($5.49)

First we have primer. Both of these products are silicon based so they will get into any pores and fine lines. They also have a matte look.

TIP: Pat in don’t rub so that the product will sink into the skin. And a little goes a long way.

Beautyblender v. Real Techniques v. Eco Tools v. Morphe

Beauty Blender ($20)
Real Techniques – Miracle Complexion Sponge Set ($9.99)

ECO Tools – Perfecting Blender Duo ($9.99)
MORPHE – Highlight + Contour Beauty Sponge Duo ($16)

Next up is not makeup but rather a beauty tool. Sponges are very popular nowadays. For this one I have not one but THREE dupes.

TIP: Remember to clean after each use and air dry so they last longer. They can last up to six months

Tarte – Shape Tape v. e.l.f – Camo Concealer

Tarte – Shape Tape Concealer ($27)
e.l.f. – Hydrating Camo Concealer ($6)

Concealer is great and really helps you look awake. Both of these products are full coverage but do not feel heavy.

TIP: Go a shade lighter to highlight and brighten.

Too Faced – Better than Sex v. L’oreal – Lash Paradise

Too Faced – Better Than Sex Mascara ($25)
L’Oreal – Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara ($10.99)

This last one is actually my favorite, as the dupe works better than the high end. The drugstore one holds and lengths much longer for half the price.

TIP: Roll in hands to warm up the product and prevent clumping.

Top Beginner Tips For Selling on Poshmark

By now, most of us have heard of the company Poshmark.

Poshmark is a social commerce marketplace where people can buy and sell their new or used clothing, shoes and accessories; ranging from luxury items to brands like Hollister or Pink. The Poshmark app is very user friendly and has 50 million users.

Sustainability is on a lot of conscious consumers minds. Poshmark is one way to help our economy. Instead of throwing our clothing into the growing landfill, we can resell it so it gets a new life and purpose with someone else. Another way resell is helping the fashion industry, is that we, as consumers, are not contributing to fast fashion. Think of Poshmark as upcycled thrifting. Besides helping our economy, it’s a nice way for some fast cash.

Here are some tips on reselling when starting out:

1.Make sure your listing title is correct (Brand name and item name)

2. Take a lot of photos; the more photos available to the buyer, the more likely the product will sell

3. Spend time on having quality descriptions

4. Do your price research and watch the trends

5. Stay active as consumers love a quick response and fast shipping

1 Denim Jacket, 3 Ways to Wear it

Trends come and go but one staple that never seems to go out of style is a denim jacket. A denim jacket is such a versatile piece of clothing.

I have been seeing more and more denim jackets styled in various different ways and each look looks very stylish. I realized that I actually don’t even own one. So, I thought that a denim jacket would help spice up my wardrobe.

For this I went to my local flea market, there I was able to find one for $10. I bought the jacket oversize, since I like the look of a more loose jacket, I find some to be too stiff making them uncomfortable.

Other than the denim jacket, nothing else was bought.

#1 – Comfy Sweater

For this look I used a comfy pick knit sweater. With this I paired it with some denim jeans in a darker wash and booties.

#2 – Graphic Tee

For the second look I went with a graphic tee. Along with black ripped jeans and some sneakers. This gives a more grunge look.

#3 – Casual Dress

For the third and final look I wanted a more casual look. So I went with a dress and some black heeled booties.

Sustainable Kanken Backpacks take over College Campus

When you walk through a college campus one of the most common laptop backpacks you will notice is the Fjallraven Kanken Classic Backpack. One of the great things about this backpack is that it is sustainable, durable, comfortable and stylish!

Kanken classic backpacks run at a minimum of $80. There is more to love about this backpack. You have plenty of color options to choose from! You can either go for a basic color or a pop of color that can add a fashion statement to complete your look as you walk through campus. Below are the color options available.
